POETRY CORNER.

(1). THE KITCHEN . A home is made of many rooms to rest, to sleep, to shower to play, and read, and talk a lot, do hobbies by the hour. But the kitchen, ah, the kitchen is a room that's made of dreams of fantasies...created by a love of cooking schemes. To touch, to smell, to visulise  the wonders that occur... and then to taste, and then to taste results that were. At one time just "ingredients", in their places on the shelves but become a wondrous mixture  as though transformed by elves. Yes, a home is made of many rooms each one has it's pleasures but the kitchen is the best of all for finding hidden treasures. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SUMMARY OF THE VEDAS.

Introduction : The Vedas are the basic structures of Hinduism. However, not much has been written about them in English, giving a brief but panoramic view of the whole Vedic literature in simple style. Hence this attempt. In addition, this paper tries to: Show that the Vedas contain all the ideas that appear in later literature pertaining to Vedanta, bhakti and allied sciences; Clear the misconception that they teach polytheism, tribal beliefs like totemism or nature worship. If the study of this paper can rouse the curiosity of the reader to know more about them, the writer feels gratified. The word 'Veda', derived from the root vid (to know), indicates a vast body of sacred and esoteric knowledge concerning the eternal spiritual values revealed to the great ones called rishis (men of wisdom, sages) in the depths of their meditation. The Hindu religious tradition has accorded the Vedas the highest place in its canonical literature. As such, they are revered  as the ...

TRANSGENDERS IN SPORTS: INCLUSION AND RECOGNITION.

Introduction : It is a known fact that sex segregation in sports has been prevailing since many decades, i.e., teams being separated on the basis of gender (male and female). However, participation of transgender athletes in such segregated competitions is raising concern as to fairness, fair competition and unfair competitive advantage especially in case of male-to-female transition. The debate as to whether transgender (TG) and transsexual (TS) athletes be allowed to participate in the field of sports and if they are allowed then under what conditions is gaining momentum from past decade or so. Steps taken to accomplish this goal, universally, is gradually slow, however, considerable efforts are being made to recognise transgender and transsexuals participation in sports through various guidelines, enactments, etc., but at the cost of strict conditions imposed for their participation. Before defining or describing as to who is a transgender, it is inevitable to understand the t...

GATES AS POWERFUL SYMBOLS OF INDIVIDUAL STRENGTH.

Traditionally, a city guarded itself by installing a huge fortified gate at its entrance. The gate kept out foes and let in friends and so was an important security support that allowed inhabitants of the city to set themselves up as a community. The life in a city often revolved around its gate: meetings were held, political manoeuvres were worked out; it was the place from which armies set out for war and judgements made. The gate represented the power of the city and stood for justice and security, much the same way as a country protects its borders today. As individuals, we tend to 'shut' our 'gates' in defence, when we feel threatened or when we face a difficult situation. When we do open up, we find that it lets in a great deal of freshness and warmth, allowing for forging lasting and fulfilling relationships. A gate can, however, become an obstruction when we shut ourselves in or do not allow others to touch us or our lives in any way. When we cut ourselve...

EMINENT ISSUES IN PUBLIC DOMAIN.

During the several decades of India's fight against British rule, there was only one overwhelming issue which moved all patriotic Indians alike. That was freedom from British rule. The movement was political in order to realise India's independence. What is the most eminent and compelling issue (or issues) that now confront us? Mahatma Gandhi had, a few months before independence cogitated about this question. He said that the national movement spearheaded by the Congress had one over-arching common aim, freedom from British rule. Into the national movement several streams of people, many with different and distinct visions of a future India had come in. Some had economic goals, some had social goals, some had political goals, some of these are in conflict with the rest; therefore, it would be proper for the Indian National Congress to dissolve itself immediately after independence and allow different political parties to merge with their distinct ideologies and party progr...

CONSTITUTIONAL MATRIX FOR GENDER JUSTICE IDEALS - A REVIEW OF JUDICIAL VINDICATION IN INDIA.

Introduction : Gender conflict and male domination, as an ideology, has come to an end with the rise of women's movement and emergence of feminist ideology. Equal justice is the essence of democracy. [ Nagaraj v. Union of India, AIR 2007 SC 71 ]. Therefore, the democratic ideology of the Indian Constitution promises to secure equally to all without any discrimination. But fair sex, to restore their status and dignity lost - since ancient times and to stand on the footing of equality, need some priority in enjoyment of the constitutional guaranty. Therefore, protection of freedom, justice, equality and dignity of women has been very clearly declared -- indefeasible constitutional objective. The Constitution of India has played a prominent role in shaping-up the feminist ideals of India. The judicial journey, from Muthamma to Vishaka also reinforced the feminist ideals enshrined in the Constitution. The paper explores the feminist dimensions of the Indian Constitution and also sc...
